Designing Sensemaker signifier frameworks – a Masterclass with Prof Dave Snowden
July 8, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pmR4500
Sensemaker® is ground-breaking software developed by Prof Dave Snowden that enables insight based not only on the scalability of quantitative statistics, but also the context and persuasiveness of stories. It enables distributed ethnography by capturing thousands of “micro-narratives” or noticings, within a custom developed quantitative framework of “signifiers”. This allows analysts to create narrative landscapes than enable change through a simple process of asking “what do we need to do differently to get more stories like these, and fewer like those?” It also enables complex systems changes by highlighting where areas of potential are in the present where the system can be “nudged” to evolve into a more beneficial direction.
In this master class, Dave will provide best practices in the design of signification frameworks as well as the theory that underlie the distributed ethnography approach of Sensemaker®
Prof Dave Snowden a pioneer in the field of organisational complexity, distributed cognition and narrative, will lead this Masterclass. He will be joined by Sonja Blignaut, a practitioner with over 15 years worth of experience applying these methods and ideas on intractable problems ranging from culture, to safety, to customer centricity and strategy. She has run multiple Sensemaker projects in South Africa.
